Walker Tape German Brown Wig Tape - Multiple Sizes

The industry's hardest-working tape for hard bond adhesives. A specialist barrier tape that protects your hair system and keeps hard bonds from failing.

Walker Tape German Brown is an industry standard - one of the original and most recognised tapes in professional hair replacement. It has been trusted by salons, stylists, and wearers worldwide for decades because it solves a specific problem that no other tape quite addresses: making sure hard bond adhesives actually hold.

German Brown is a barrier tape, not a standard double-sided bonding tape. Applied to the hair system base first, it acts as the interface between the hair system and the hard bond adhesive, gripping both sides firmly and preventing the most common point of failure in a hard bond setup: the tape releasing from the system rather than the adhesive releasing from the scalp.

If you have ever had a hard bond adhesive fail and wondered why, the tape underneath is usually the answer. German Brown is designed to eliminate that weak link.

Key features

Firmest tape in the Walker Tape range - specifically engineered for hard bond adhesive applications

Acts as a protective barrier between the hard bond adhesive and the hair system base

Skin-safe formula - comfortable during extended wear

Low residue - removes more cleanly than many extended-wear tapes

An industry standard trusted by professional salons worldwide

Important: German Brown contains latex. Do not use if you have a latex allergy. Perform a patch test before first use.

What makes German Brown different from regular hair system tape

Most double-sided hair system tapes are designed to bond directly to both the scalp and the system base - they are the whole bonding system in one. German Brown works differently. It is applied to the system base only, creating a high-grip surface specifically designed to lock onto hard bond adhesive.

The cloth construction gives German Brown a texture and firmness that adhesive clings to far more aggressively than it would to standard plastic-backed tapes. When you apply a hard bond adhesive over German Brown, the two grip each other in a way that prevents the separation at the tape layer that causes most hard bond failures.

Who should use German Brown tape

Wearers using hard bond adhesives who want to maximise bond security

Anyone who has experienced hard bond adhesive failure at the tape interface

Poly system wearers - the semi-dull finish sits discreetly against polyurethane bases

Lace system wearers with a poly perimeter strip - German Brown works on the poly strip

Professional salon technicians doing extended-wear hard bond applications for clients

How to use German Brown tape

German Brown is applied to the hair system, not directly to the scalp. This is different from most other tapes in your kit and important to get right.

Start by cleaning the hair system base and the scalp thoroughly with Walker Tape Bond Breaker Shampoo and allowing both to dry completely. Apply 99% alcohol to the scalp and the system base to prepare both surfaces for optimal adhesion - this step is specifically recommended by Walker Tape for German Brown applications.

Peel German Brown from the roll or bag and cut or position as needed along the perimeter of the system base. Press firmly to ensure full contact. Avoid touching the adhesive surface. Once the tape is in place on the system, apply your hard bond adhesive over the top of the German Brown - the tape's cloth surface will grip the adhesive firmly.

For more precise placement before bonding, spray Just-Rite Positioning Spray onto the adhesive area - this gives you time to adjust positioning before the bond sets. Once positioned correctly, press the system firmly onto the scalp and hold for at least 10 seconds.

Storage and shelf life

German Brown has a shelf life of up to one year with proper storage. Keep away from heat, humidity, and direct light. Store in a cool, dark, dry environment at room temperature. Seal bags or roll packaging completely between uses - exposure to air and humidity degrades the adhesive quality over time.

Pairs well with

Walker Tape Extreme Hold Liquid Adhesive - the natural hard bond adhesive pairing for German Brown

Walker Tape Ultra Hold Glue - for wearers using a strong brush-on adhesive over German Brown

Walker Tape Bond Breaker Shampoo - essential for thorough pre-application cleaning

Benny's Notes

All Walker tape & Professional Hair Labs products sold by Liberty Hair Co. have been personally tried and tested by me (Benny) and with clients in my barbershops to see if they hold up to Australian conditions. If you have any questions regarding products, how to use them, what to expect or wish to try something new and would like a sample (if we have it available for sample) please reach out.

FAQs

This is one of the most commonly asked questions we get! The answer is it is up to the wearer. In my experience, tape is easier for self install and removal. Glue is best for prolonged wear (3-5 weeks). I personally use tape more often than glue as I change my system frequently and prefer the freedom of doing so without a big clean up. My advice would be to try both options and decide what works best for you.

Both are water-based adhesives made by Professional Hair Labs,
but they're designed for different conditions. Supreme is the all-rounder - strong, comfortable, lower shine, great for most Australian wearers in everyday conditions.
Platinum is engineered for oily scalps, heavy sweating, and high humidity. If
you're in a tropical climate or sweat heavily, in my experience, Platinum will typically
outperform Supreme.

Yes - GhostBond as well as ultra hold glue is commonly used on lace, poly, and mono base systems. For lace systems, apply adhesive directly to the scalp only.
Many wearers use a combination glue at the hairline and tape around the perimeter of the system for the best balance of security and natural hairline appearance.

Yes - C22 is safe for all common hair system base types when used as directed. Apply it to the bond rather than soaking the system, as this can lead to the hair drying out and rinse thoroughly after the residue is removed.

A typical removal session uses 5–10ml depending on the area
covered and the type of adhesive used. The 118ml bottle gives you roughly 12–20
removal sessions; the 350ml gives you 35–70 sessions. If you're a professional
doing multiple clients, the 350ml is by far the better value.
