The New Australia is where most of our customers start and for good reason. It is a hybrid system that gets the fundamentals exactly right: a soft, breathable French lace top that sits comfortably against the scalp and stays cool in Australian heat, combined with a wider clear PU perimeter that makes installation straightforward, maintenance easy, and the bond more forgiving than a full lace system.
The wider PU perimeter running approximately 1" to 2" around the full edge is the design detail that sets the New Australia apart from earlier hybrid systems. It gives you more surface area for both tape and glue application, which means more flexibility in how you bond it and a stronger overall hold. It also gives you more room to trim and customise the base size to your specific head shape.
This is a system I (Benny) have tested personally in Australian conditions. If you are new to hair systems and unsure where to start, this is our recommendation. "I find this easier to maintain with the poly perimeter, especially in summer when tapes and glues break down faster."

Who is the New Australia for
Wearers in hot or humid Australian climates - lace breathes well in Queensland, WA, and East Coast coastal conditions
First-time hair system wearers - the wider PU perimeter makes application and removal straightforward and more versatile
Active wearers - breathability and good bond area make it suitable for everyday activity
Stylists and barbers - the wider perimeter allows flexible fitting for different head shapes
Anyone coming from a full lace / lace front system who wants something more durable and easier to maintain
Adhesive and tape compatibility
The New Australia works with both glue and tape. The PU perimeter, allows for Walker Tape Ultra Hold Tape or Sensi-Tak, depending on your preference, are both strong choices. Many wearers use a combination of tape at the perimeter and GhostBond for maximum hold with easy perimeter maintenance.
Our founder Benny wears a hybrid lace/PU system in Australian conditions. For summer heat and active lifestyles, he pairs it with No Sweat Scalp Protector to extend the hold time.
Care and maintenance
Apply a scalp protector before every adhesive application to extend bond life
Wash with Pro Series Shampoo, regular shampoo can strip the system of colour faster
Use Walker Tape C22 Solvent or GhostBuster Remover for clean removal — never pull without solvent
Apply UV leave-in conditioner daily if spending time outdoors in Australian sun
Allow 48 hours after installation before heavy swimming or high-sweat activity
Pairs well with
GhostBond Platinum - the adhesive of choice for active wearers and hot climates
GhostBond XL - the all-round adhesive for everyday Australian conditions
All Walker tape & Professional Hair Labs products sold by Liberty Hair Co. have been personally tried and tested by me (Benny) and with clients in my barbershops to see if they hold up to Australian conditions. If you have any questions regarding products, how to use them, what to expect or wish to try something new and would like a sample (if we have it available for sample) please reach out.
This is one of the most commonly asked questions we get! The answer is it is up to the wearer. In my experience, tape is easier for self install and removal. Glue is best for prolonged wear (3-5 weeks). I personally use tape more often than glue as I change my system frequently and prefer the freedom of doing so without a big clean up. My advice would be to try both options and decide what works best for you.
Both are water-based adhesives made by Professional Hair Labs, but they're designed for different conditions. Supreme is the all-rounder - strong, comfortable, lower shine, great for most Australian wearers in everyday conditions. Platinum is engineered for oily scalps, heavy sweating, and high humidity. If you're in a tropical climate or sweat heavily, in my experience, Platinum will typically outperform Supreme.
Yes - GhostBond as well as ultra hold glue is commonly used on lace, poly, and mono base systems. For lace systems, apply adhesive directly to the scalp only. Many wearers use a combination glue at the hairline and tape around the perimeter of the system for the best balance of security and natural hairline appearance.
Yes - C22 is safe for all common hair system base types when used as directed. Apply it to the bond rather than soaking the system, as this can lead to the hair drying out and rinse thoroughly after the residue is removed.
A typical removal session uses 5–10ml depending on the area covered and the type of adhesive used. The 118ml bottle gives you roughly 12–20 removal sessions; the 350ml gives you 35–70 sessions. If you're a professional doing multiple clients, the 350ml is by far the better value.
